If you are wondering what is the best iron to buy, it is very easy to fall in love with the Sunbeam Professional Iron at first use and in fact to label it the best iron ever. Unlike some other steam irons where you feel as though you are always applying pressure to get your clothes to look right, this Sunbeam iron makes ironing a breeze simply because it is of the right weight. If your ironing chore takes you quite a while because of the sheer amount of clothes that need a good press, then you do need to get an iron that is heavy enough and yet gives a smooth glide like this Sunbeam iron.
Good Points of this Sunbeam Iron
Overall, Sunbeam irons live up to their promises and is a best iron to buy. Wrinkles on clothes are easy to smooth out since the steam function works wonderfully. Not all irons, even the branded ones, are always able to provide plenty of steam to make ironing easier but this one does very well on that score. All you want is for ironing to be easier, not harder, so why settle for an iron that doesn't emit sufficient steam to make the chore more frustrating, right?
In terms of the soleplate, it glides pretty well for a non-stick iron. The tip is also well-designed that it is pointed and narrow enough to be able to smooth out wrinkles in tights areas like pockets and such.

The other thing also worth mentioning about the Sunbeam Professional Steam Iron is the digital controls. If you are sick of fiddling with knobs and dials, then this would give you more reasons to like this iron.
What I Don't Like About This Sunbeam Iron
Even the best of steam irons will have some downsides. This Sunbeam iron is no different. The personal dislike that I have for this iron is the inconvenience of having to re-set the temperature each time after use. The types of clothes that I need to iron is actually quite limited and therefore, by right I don't really need to fiddle with the settings much. But with this Sunbeam iron, I need to re-set it each time when I plug it in to begin ironing.
Of course, the rationale behind this re-setting is understandable. After all, if the last thing you ironed the last time around is something that required maximum heat, you don't want to end up burning your favorite blouse the next time you turned it on simply because you forgot to re-set the temperature back to lower settings. So, making it a standard operating procedure to re-set the temperature each time makes sense, especially if you have a wide variety of materials to iron. A bit inconvenient for people like me but better to be safe than sorry.
Price
The Sunbeam Professional Iron (4238) has a very wide selling price range. I have seen some retailers selling for less than $50 while others charge as high as $70. In fact, sometimes you can get this Sunbeam professional iron from Amazon marketplace for as low as $48.99. If you can get it for less than $50, it would be the best iron to buy compared to the Rowenta Focus iron which has more or less the same functions but is selling for $20 to $30 more. People often buy iron models just for the brand name, but in this case I would look closely at this Sunbeam iron before making a decision.
The answer to the question 'what is the best iron to buy?' is unfortunately not The Sunbeam professional iron 4238 anymore as it has since been discontinued. This iron is replaced by the later Sunbeam iron model 4267.
