Black & Decker F1000 Steam Advantage Iron Review: Good Enough For A Basic Iron?

Black & Decker F1000 Steam Advantage iron is good as a basic iron. It performs all the features quite well for an iron of this price range. All in all, the smoothness and steam output can be improved but you can't really expect this model to match those irons of a higher price range.

Good Points

This iron does a fair job at getting rid of wrinkles but the stubborn ones do require some effort. If you are not too fussy on smoothing out every conceivable wrinkle, then it should be adequate for your purpose.

The iron heats up fine but the steam output can be better. Again, you would be happy with this iron if you are not reliant on having lots and lots of steam while ironing. Otherwise, give this iron a skip and get a better model.

Design Flaws

One thing you would hate about this iron is the limited visibility of the water container. That means you can't really see the water level and as a result you are left guessing as to when it would be empty or overflow if you are refilling it.

The dial is also too small and with it the markings can be difficult to read. A bigger settings dial would be much better for obvious reasons. Having said that, both of these drawbacks don't hamper the performance of the iron and if you can live with the cosmetic flaws, then it can't really hurt having this model as a basic iron.

Price

Black & Decker F1000 Steam Advantage Iron has a retail price range of $18 to $39. At time of review, this iron is selling for $32.70 $17.99 at Amazon. For this price, it is worth a buy if all you want is a basic iron with standard features. Anything more than $20 and you would be better off looking at other models given its design flaws.
